A Joyful Wildflower Wedding at Franciscan Gardens

Some weddings stay with you long after the flowers are packed away. This beautiful wildflower wedding at Franciscan Gardens was absolutely one of those days.

The couple found me through Zola while searching for a florist for their wedding, and from the beginning I loved their vision. They wanted something colorful, joyful, and relaxed florals that felt like wildflowers growing naturally in a garden rather than anything too structured or formal.

Honestly, the entire day felt like it belonged exactly in that setting.

The Table

A Perfect Day for a Garden Wedding

If you’ve ever been to Franciscan Gardens, you know how special it is. It’s one of those venues that feels intimate the moment you walk in, surrounded by greenery, warm stone, and the charm that makes so many couples fall in love with getting married there.

The weather that day could not have been more beautiful. A soft breeze moved through the courtyard, catching the wildflowers and making them gently sway throughout the space. It felt like the garden itself was part of the celebration.

For a wildflower inspired wedding design, it was pretty much perfect.

The Seating “Seeding” Chart

A Creative “Seeded” Seating Display

One of my favorite details from this wedding was the welcome display.

Instead of a traditional seating chart, we created a trellis installation designed to look like flowers were naturally growing from the flower boxes below. Guests walked up to the trellis and found their table assignment by locating their “seeded” packet attached to the display.

Yes! Seeded, not seated.

Each packet held their table number and doubled as a sweet little favor guests could take home and plant later. It was such a charming detail and fit beautifully with the overall wildflower wedding theme.

Wildflowers

Florals Scattered Like Wildflowers Throughout the Garden

For the floral design, the goal was to make the flowers feel like they belonged in the space, almost as if they had naturally grown there.

Small floral arrangements were placed throughout the venue to create little moments of color everywhere you looked. Instead of concentrating flowers in just one or two areas, the design allowed the entire space to feel layered and full of life.

Later in the evening, we moved the wildflower ground meadow installation in front of the couple’s sweetheart table. It framed them in the most romantic way and added another moment of softness and color to the reception space.

It felt a little bit whimsical. A little bit magical. Exactly what a garden wedding should feel like.

The Best Moment of the Night

The flowers were beautiful. The venue was stunning. The weather was perfect.

But my favorite moment actually happened at the very end of the night.

When I came back to clean up, the couple was still on the dance floor. They were laughing, smiling, and dancing the night away like the party had just started. Completely happy. Completely in the moment.

That’s honestly my favorite thing to see as a wedding florist in Southern California.

Because while the flowers help create the atmosphere, the real goal is always the same, to design a space where couples can relax, celebrate, and truly enjoy their wedding day.

And this one was pure joy from beginning to end.

Planning a Wedding at Franciscan Gardens

What flowers work best for a wildflower-style wedding?
Loose, seasonal blooms like cosmos, ranunculus, chamomile, and garden roses create the natural, airy feeling many couples want for a wildflower wedding.

Is Franciscan Gardens a good venue for garden-style florals?
Yes! The courtyard setting at Franciscan Gardens pairs beautifully with organic floral designs like wildflower arrangements, floral meadows, and greenery installations.

Can wedding florals be repurposed during the reception?
Absolutely. In this wedding, the wildflower ground meadow used during the ceremony was moved in front of the sweetheart table for the reception, creating a completely new focal point without needing additional florals.

FAQ: Wedding Florist Questions You Were Totally Going to Google Later

Q: When should I book my wedding florist?
A: Ideally, 6–12 months before your wedding. For full-service florals, the sooner the better, especially during peak SoCal wedding season (spring/fall).

Q: Do you offer mock-ups?
A: Yes! Mock-up centerpiece sessions start at $250 and are a great way to preview your design direction, especially if you’re visual and want that extra peace of mind.

Q: What areas do you serve?
A: I’m based in Long Beach but serve all of Southern California: from Los Angeles to Orange County to wine country and beyond.

Q: Do you offer a la carte options?
A: Absolutely! I have a la carte services called Click Click Bloom for couples who want gorgeous flowers without the full-service experience, perfect for elopements or budget-conscious weddings.

Q: What’s your floral style?
A: My style is whimsical, unique, and full of personality, a mix of creative flair and bold romance. I love designing florals that feel magical, meaningful, and totally custom to each couple.

Q: Do you work with specific venues or planners?
A: Yes! I love collaborating with planners and venues across SoCal. If you’re already working with someone, I’m happy to integrate seamlessly into your vendor team.
